Inspired by the book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement by Devery S. Anderson, the six-episode limited series set in 1955 centers on Mamie Till-Mobley (Adrienne Warren), who risks her life to find justice after her son Emmett (Cedric Joe) is brutally murdered in the Jim Crow South. Unwilling to let Emmett’s murder disappear from the headlines, Mamie chooses to bear her pain on the world stage, emerging as an activist for justice and igniting the Civil Rights movement as we know it today.

Daniel Abeles was born in Danville, California, as Daniel Arthur Abeles. Upon graduating from NYU’s School of the Arts, Daniel made a name for himself with his strong performances on a variety of television series including The Good Wife, Smash, Welcome to the Wayne and Strange Angel. Next up for Daniel is the ABC anthology series, chronicling the civil rights movement as told by the women behind it, Women of the Movement. Daniel is also the founder and co-producing partner of the theatre company, Lesser America.
