BRITBOX BRINGS MORE BRITISH THRILLS AND CHILLS IN JANUARY 2024

December 19, 2024 –  BritBox, the home of the largest collection of exceptional British content, is starting this year off right with a selection of great titles to choose from. On January 4, fans will be welcoming the second season of Reyka with many twists and turns that are bound to keep people on the edge of their seats. Reyka Gama (Kim Engelbrecht) and Angus Speelman (Iain Glen) return in this season's gripping and intricately woven crime thriller. Another exciting release coming to BritBox on January 17  is Blue Lights, a Belfast drama that explores the challenges faced by new police recruits as they navigate a high-pressure environment, grappling with divided communities, criminal gangs. 

 

Whether you’re ready to solve a mystery or in the mood for a laugh, BritBox has a variety of new titles slated in January including Monday Monday on January 15, Royal Autopsy on January 18 and Murderland on January 29. Everyone’s favorite crime-fighting priest is back just before the end of the month. Season 11 of Father Brown premieres January 23 with new crimes and mysteries for arm-chair detectives to help solve. Mark Williams returns with guest appearances from Sister Boniface (Lorna Watson) and more.

In the holiday season, Mrs. Brown's (Brendan O’Carroll)  quest for a peaceful Christmas is thwarted as Cathy takes on cooking, a sentimental decoration disappears, and a surprise guest disrupts the tranquility. As the New Year begins, the gang tackles a challenging health regime, prompting Agnes to confront mysteries from the past raised by a mysterious visitor to Finglas.

Re-creation of the life of comic genius Charlie Chaplin (Robert Downey Jr, Iron Man), from his humble beginnings in south London through his early days in British vaudeville, his silent movie career in America and his late masterpieces. His turbulent personal life saw four marriages and an enforced exile from the US - though he returned to receive an honorary Oscar in 1972.

 

  • January 4, 2024: Reyka S2 | US Original | US Exclusive | CA Original | 8 x 60 | All at Once            The second season of International Emmy nominated, original crime drama Reyka, returns to the criminal underworld of South Africa and follows criminal profile Reyka Gama (International Emmy nominee, Kim Englebrecht) as she investigates human trafficking and another depraved serial killer.

 

  • January 10, 2024: Blind Spot S1 | Exclusive | North America Premiere | 4 x 60 | All at Once

This 4 part thriller revolves around the disappearance of a woman and follows the story of Hannah Quinn (Alsbury), a disabled CCTV monitor working in a rough estate. When Hannah witnesses a known violent criminal leading a young woman into a blind spot on the cameras, she becomes convinced that the woman has been murdered. However, she faces resistance from apathetic policeman Tony Warden (Kemp) who is assigned to the case. Beth Alsbury as Hannah Quinn Ross Kemp as Tony Warden.

A group of workers at the head office of a supermarket chain rise to the challenge of moving to Leeds.  Sally (Morven Christie, Grantchester) relocates with her company, but her fresh start is complicated by a crush on the charming-and taken-Steven (Tom Ellis, Lucifer). Miranda Hart and Jenny Aggutter also star. 

 

  • January 17, 2024: Blue Lights S1 | US Premiere | US Exclusive | Original | 6 x 50 | 2 Episodes Weekly

Belfast based drama `Blue Lights' follows new police recruits Grace, Annie, and Tommy, as they learn the ropes in a high-pressure environment. Grace is a former social worker who has decided to switch careers in her forties, Annie has had to leave everything she knows behind, and Tommy finds it challenging to be on the frontline. The team deal with divided communities, criminal gangs, and struggle to know who to trust, all while wondering if they have made the right choice in joining the PSNI.

Professor Alice Roberts pieces together how and why Queen Elizabeth I and King Charles II died by bringing together a blend of historical and medical expertise, and by using contemporaneous accounts and documents.

Mark Williams returns as the titular Father Brown in the return of the smash his mystery series. In season 11, audiences can expect numerous new compelling mysteries, including one at an arts and crafts fair, another at a crime writing festival, and one at a “food fayre to die for.” This season catches up on fan-favorite characters and welcomes guest appearances from Sister Boniface (Lorna Watson) and more.

`The Repair Shop' follows a workshop where broken or damaged family heirlooms are brought back to life. Furniture restorer and presenter Jay Blades hosts as fellow furniture restorers, horologists, metal workers, ceramicists, upholsterers and other skilled craftsmen of all types are brought together to work in one space to restore much-loved possessions to their former glory. Many of these items have incredible stories behind them and a unique place in history.
